Computing Rule #3 Funny Programming Coffee or Tea Mug

Computing Rule #3 - User don't know what they want.  But they know for damn sure what they don't want.

How many times have you participated in a design session like this?

Programmer: How would you like the screen to look?
User: I'm not picky. Anything will be fine.
Programmer: How about this?
User: No.
Programmer: OK, how about this instead?
User: No.
Programmer: Well, what about this then?
User: No.
Programmer: This?
User: No.
Programmer: I thought you said 'anything will be fine.'
User: I did. You just haven't shown me the right 'anything' yet.
Programmer: What IS the right 'anything?'
User: I'm not picky. Anything will be fine.

This is why programmers are all slightly insane.
