Steam Iron Patent- Historic Laundry Room Patents Series

$35.00

Once upon a time, there was no such thing as Permanent Press. Even worse, fashion dictated that clothes should be wrinkle-free, which meant people had to do something called 'ironing'.

Before July 20, 1920, if someone wanted to use a steam iron, they had to heat an iron on the stove and squirt water on the clothes as they ironed. After July 20, 1920, people could use a fabulous invention called an 'electric steam iron', which provided it's own heat and water via the miracle of electricity.

This would look fantastic in a Craftsman or Rustic-themed room, and would really appeal to engineers, technicians, scientists, inventors or anyone with a sense of history.
